For the honeymooners who want to travel long-haul in the UK summer…

Tom: For me, Kenya is the ultimate 2024 honeymoon destination with a perfect blend of adventure and chill. I used to live and work out there, it’s a second home and a huge reason why nemo was born. Why summer? Kenya’s best time to see wildlife coincides with the dry months of June through October.

✈️ The trip: Kenya Honeymoon: Laikipia, Masai Mara & Beach

📍 Where to stay? El Karama in Laikipia is a great start to any Kenya honeymoon – a to connect with local wildlife and culture through remote, exclusive experiences, plus the chefs serve up some seriously standout dishes. Then once you’re over in the Masai Mara, Offbeat Mara is the one for that classic safari experience, phenomenal guiding and activities.

🗓️ When to go? June and October are my favourite months – just either side of peak season, but it’s great in our summer and winter too. The green season is April, May and November, so treat these months with a bit of caution as it gets wet, often just in short bursts though.

Venetia: It’s got to be Colombia! You’ve got guaranteed good weather, Medellin’s showstopping flower festival in August, and the dry season in the Amazon means you can hike into the depths of the jungle and see more wildlife.

✈️ The trip: Colombia Honeymoon: Medellin, Coffee Region & Cartagena.

📍 Where to stay? Casa San Agustín is a honeymoon favourite in romantic Cartagena and always gets rave feedback from our travellers. Then I’d recommend finishing your trip off at Las Islas, the perfect remote beachside setting to end a busy trip with a dose of relaxation.

🗓️ When to go? In general, any time of year is perfect! This is one of the huge appeals of Colombia – perfect for travellers who don’t want to restrict their 2024 honeymoon to certain months.

For the honeymooners with a serious wildlife obsession…

Laura: I’d 100% suggest Southern Tanzania and the off-the-beaten-track areas of Ruaha National Park and the Selous Game Reserve for a real wildlife experience. You’ll feel an incredible connection to the region through the expertise of our guides and the array of activities on offer providing endless fun to be had. Boating and fishing are great ways to see the huge hippo pods and crocs that live in the lakes and rivers, while game drives and walks can give you a front-row seat to see some of Africa’s largest prides of lion and packs of wild dog. Despite the region’s growing popularity, the spotlight remains on iconic parks like Serengeti and Masai Mara, leaving you with the chance to step into a bygone era and relish your safari in tranquillity.

✈️ The trip: Tanzania Honeymoon: Ruaha, Selous & Zanzibar

📍 Where to stay? You’ll love Sand Rivers Selous!  The guides are the best in the business and you can spot wildlife from your private veranda – particularly during the dry season when wildlife gathers on the river right in front of the lodge. Ikuka Safari Camp is another gem, with a beautiful setting overlooking the stunning Ruaha, a private starbed platform for a night under the stars and a chance to see amazing wildlife on walking safaris.

🗓️ When to go?  For top weather and wildlife viewing, I’d recommend the dry season, which typically spans from June to October. You’ll have clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and reduced vegetation, making it easier to spot the gorgeous wildlife. Other seasons offer something special too, with tonnes of colour in the greener months and the arrival of the migratory birds – so there’s something for everyone!

Caitlin: Costa Rica is leading the way in terms of conservation and protecting the incredible variety of animals and plants that call it home, from turtles on the Caribbean coast to some of the best birdlife in the world in the cloud forest, to sloth at nearly every stop, you don’t just have to do wildlife excursions to experience Costa Rica wildlife, everything is very much on your doorstep as you go. If you love wildlife and remote locations, our top recommendation is the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica’s tropical safari experience and the jewel in the crown of its epic wildlife. Think Puma tracks, dolphins, and Scarlett macaws flying overhead!

✈️ The trip: Cloud Forest to Coast in Costa Rica

📍 Where to stay? For an immersive rainforest experience, Nayara Tented Camp is the one: luxury treetop tents, volcano views and days spent hiking through the lush rainforest with top-tier local guides. For a great beach vibe head to Nantipa, tucked into a beautiful, hard-to-reach beach enclave of Santa Teresa. Barefoot bliss, amazing local food and ocean views for days.

🗓️ When to go? May & November – shoulder/green season so lots of animals, green landscapes, lower prices, and fewer crowds!

For the honeymooners who want an all-out adventure…

James: For me, there is no other country in the world like Japan. You’ve got wild coastlines, rare wildlife, huge national parks, hyper-modern cities, mountains, ancient temples, trekking and a world-famous food scene. If the word adventure was a country, for me, this would be it. This extraordinary trip will ignite every sense and unravel the many layers of Japan’s curiously contrasting regions.

✈️ The trip: Japan Honeymoon: Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto & Miyajima

📍 Where to stay? Owned and operated by the same family for over five generations, Iwaso is my choice for travellers seeking a traditional experience on Miyajima – simplistically elegant rooms, spring baths and great kaiseki cuisine. Then for something more akin to Tokyo’s eclectic atmosphere, Hotel Gajoen masters the art of combining tradition with modernity – 5 epic restaurants, in-house art galleries and amazing gardens.

🗓️ When to go? Late May after golden week, and October – a combination of costs and weather – so it’s a great time to go when it’s not super expensive but the weather is still lovely.

Venetia: Argentina is a country of adventurous contrasts, from hiking glaciers in Patagonia, road-tripping through canyons near Salta, galloping with gauchos in the Pampas and wandering at waterfalls in Iguazu. I love starting the trip in Buenos Aires, where tango dancers perform well into the night and The best way to explore this incredible part of the world is to get right in the thick of it, rather than just kicking back in the hotel!

✈️ The trip: Argentina’s Pampas, Mountains, and Waterfalls

📍 Where to stay? La Bamba de Areco for all things romance, feasting and horseback adventures. Then I’d choose Eolo for its spectacular views, superb hiking trails and high-end interiors – it’s the ultimate Patagonian luxury retreat!

🗓️ When to go? Shoulder season, either side of their peak summer rush, in October and November and the end of January through February.

For the honeymooners who want to discover new flavours…

Caitlin: You know you’re onto a winner with Mexican cuisine, where each region, town and even village has its own unique flavours. You’ll find some of the best restaurants in the world in Mexico City, taste mole poblano in Puebla, mezcal and incredible street food in Oaxaca, and luxury beach dining in Puerto Escondido – Mexico is a true foodie’s paradise!

✈️ The trip: Mexico Honeymoon: Mexico City, Oaxaca & Beach

📍 Where to stay? Pug Seal Zapoteco pays a design-led homage to Zapotec and Mixtec culture, with colourful murals throughout. Then it’s got to be Casa Joseph in Puerto Escondido for a beautifully exotic atmosphere and great ocean views.

🗓️ When to go? January or February – the heart of the dry season and the perfect time to escape the UK!

This is a best-of-India trip, but with a nemo twist to really bring India to life. From busy and bustling cities and the wildness of Ranthambore all the way down to the sleepy, relaxing beaches of Goa and the warm Indian Ocean.

✈️ The trip: India Honeymoon: Delhi, Tigers Taj Mahal & Beaches

📍 Where to stay? Haveli Dharampura – for those who want to experience what Delhi really has to offer then this is the ideal option. Located right in the heart of Old Delhi, unreachable by car, this incredible authentic Haveli will make you feel like you’re really in India. Head to the rooftop bar and restaurant for amazing views. Another top choice is Ahilya By The Sea, a small, boutique option in a quiet area of North Goa. This property has had excellent feedback from other nemo travellers and is close enough to more lively areas if that’s what you’re looking for.

🌈 When to go? October – April, when temperatures are balmy across most of the country, and there is very little rainfall.

For honeymooners who love all things history & culture…

Beatriz: Italy has the perfect blend of rich history and culture with amazing food and incredible views. Florence is heaven for history and art lovers and we love exploring Tuscany’s rich cultural heritage through its incredible food and wine. The trip also includes the most beautiful road trips to the countryside, for that (much-needed) post-wedding relaxation, and to the coast, to finish the honeymoon soaking in the beauty of the Tuscan coast (without the crowds!). Can’t think of a better option!

✈️ The trip: Tuscany Honeymoon: Florence, Countryside and Coasts

📍 Where to stay? Badia di Pomaio in the beautiful Tuscan countryside is the perfect place to spend a few days after exploring Florence (beautiful pool and amazing activities on offer!). When heading to the coast, my favourite hotel is La Guardia, on the enchanting Tuscan isle of Giglio, where you can spend your days exploring the beautiful coastline, hiking and sailing around the island.

🗓️ When to go?  I would recommend visiting at the beginning of summer (May to the end of June) and early autumn (September to October) to avoid the crowds and the hottest months.

For honeymooners who want to brush up their diving skills…

Venetia: You are pretty much guaranteed to see turtles (green and hawksbill species are abundant) around the Gili Trawangan, Air and Meno Islands, amongst the other plentiful marine life! We’ve got access to some great diving instructors for travellers wanting to up their PADI level or experience these wonderful underwater worlds for the first time.

✈️ The trip: Indonesian Islands: Bali, Lombok & Sumba

📍 Where to stay? Oberoi Lombok is super romantic for honeymooners and perfectly located near the Gili Islands. Then the beautiful Sanubari is our top pick on the off-the-radar isle of Sumba, where ancient Marupu religious rites and traditional crafts still thrive, for thatched villas and white sands.

🗓️When to go? UK summer months traditionally have the best weather, but consider early June and September/October (outside of school holidays) if you want fewer crowds but don’t mind the chance of a little rain!

Andy: This trip is a winning romantic combination of wildlife, culture, food and incredible diving, travelling through Sri Lanka’s Tea Country and ancient sights, before finishing up on the Maldives’ paradise-like shores. The Maldives’ world-class coral reefs, diverse diving experiences (from drift diving, night diving and wreck diving to underwater caves), year-round warm waters and luxurious dive centres make it idyllic for our ocean-loving honeymooners.

✈️ The trip: The Ultimate Sri Lanka & Maldives Honeymoon

📍 Where to stay? If you’re after that castaway vibe, you’ll love Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat – a far cry from the sprawling lodges on the larger islands, this intimate retreat is seriously perfect for honeymooners seeking some real laid-back, barefoot luxury and an exceptional house reef. Or, if you fancy upping the luxe go for a retreat like Milhaidhoo for all things tropical minimalism and endless experiences.

🗓️ When to go? It very much depends on what you’re looking for out of your honeymoon! Sri Lanka experiences various weather patterns throughout the year, and the likelihood of certain Maldivian marine wildlife sightings vary. For a well-rounded trip that combines wildlife, culture, and diving in both Sri Lanka and the Maldives we’d suggest travelling during the dry seasons from November/December to April.

For honeymooners who just want to zen out…

Sarah: The Greek islands are synonymous with some serious beachside chill, and this stunning trip gives R&R by the bucket. The islands retain all their local authenticity, and days are spent flitting from beach to taverna, or hopping on a moped and exploring the islands’ further corners if you’re feeling more adventurous. Their bijou size makes it super easy to travel around, 15-minute bops and you’ll quickly discover hidden beaches, hillside monasteries and our favourite Greek restaurants.

✈️ The trip: Greek Islands Honeymoon: Sifnos, Folegandros & Milos

📍 Where to stay? For Sifnos it’s got to be Voya, I stayed earlier this year and adore the low-key luxe vibe – it’s also one of the best spots on the island for private poolside sunsets! Then Folegandros’ Blue Sand Boutique is a dream, massive bean bags and killer views make for the perfect post-swim chill spot.

🗓️ When to go? This trip is a summertime classic, with May to early August being prime for sun and warm seas. Visit just before the school holidays for fewer crowds and avoid later in September when the winds pick up as the autumn storms roll in.

For honeymooners who want a bit of everything…

Sophie: Sri Lanka in my eyes is the best all-rounder, it ticks so many boxes! Whether that’s adventure, sun, sea, safari, culture and food – it really has it all. When I was last there we ticked off so much in just two weeks… and it didn’t feel crammed or rushed, the perfect balance of a cool cultural difference, unique safaris, hikes and not to mention the cookery classes! There’s plenty of time to kick back at our boutique hotels and soak up the views too, it’s a dream.

✈️ The trip: Sri Lanka Honeymoon: Sigiriya, Tea Country, Safari & Beach

📍 Where to stay? Karpaha Sands is an absolute dream, the perfect spot to enjoy the amazing beaches on the East Coast. After a long drive down a dirt track, you stumble upon the glamping tents situated on an old coconut plantation – so idyllic! Aliya is also up there, thanks to the views you get of Sigiriya and the huge pool.

🌈 When to go?  With varying weather patterns from north to south, there’s always somewhere warm and dry in Sri Lanka. But, to get the most out of your trip and to visit as many areas as possible, we would recommend travelling between November to April.

Christabelle: This trip is the perfect combination with one of the coolest cities in Africa with amazing foodie scenes, surrounded by dramatic mountains and wild oceans to the peacefulness of the Winelands for more food and incredible wine to an intimate but exhilarating safari, finally finishing off on one of the most beautiful beach destinations in Africa – you just can’t beat it!  This itinerary gives you a taste of everything and something for everyone!

✈️ The trip: South Africa & Mozambique Honeymoon: City, Wine, Safari & Beach

📍 Where to stay? The Dorp Hotel in Cape Town combines wonderfully with Sussurro in Mozambique, both have that boho chic feel to them, effortlessly cool whilst at the same time making you feel right at home with everything you need!

🌈 When to go? All year-round works – avoiding February rains in Mozambique. My favourite times are April/May and October/November as the weather is perfect, and it’s just on either side of peak season!
