The Rectory Hotel

Once upon a time, a rector and his 14 children had the original rectory all to themselves – these days, we can all rock up to The Rectory Hotel (praise be). Items worth giving thanks for include: the romantic rooms with their field-and-village views, the excellent restaurant, the al fresco pool and the thoughtful extras, from the relaxed service to the just-baked cakes. Of course, the Cotswolds countryside (and its snug-as-a-bug pubs) isn’t half bad, either…

The Rectory Hotel is a beautiful small boutique hotel in the Cotswolds. It's nestled between Malmesbury and Cirencester, in the Cotswolds-pretty village of Crudwell, which dates back to the Domesday Book.

Small Rooms

These 12sq m rooms each have a king-size bed with goose-down bedding and crisp cotton sheets, tea and coffee facilities, super-fast WiFi, a Roberts Radio, WiFi and a TV with a library of free films. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. One of the Small Rooms is suitable for canine visitors; check its availability when booking, if you want to come with Fido.

Medium Rooms

The 16sq m Medium Rooms have a super-king or king-size bed with goose-down bedding, crisp cotton sheets, tea and coffee facilities, super-fast WiFi, a TV with a library of free films, and a Roberts Radio. Some Medium Rooms have a free-standing bath in the bedroom and a walk-in shower in the bathroom; others have a shower attachment over a bath in the bathroom. (They all have a stash of natural Bramley bath products.) One of the Medium Rooms allows canine visitors; if you want to come with Fido, check its availability when booking.

Big Rooms

The hotel’s most spacious and luxurious rooms have a super-king-size bed with goose-down bedding, crisp cotton sheets, tea and coffee facilities, super-fast WiFi, a TV with a library of free films, and a Roberts Radio. Each of these 20sq m rooms has a walk-in shower and free-standing bath tub (either in the bedroom or the bathroom).

Biggest Room

Gaze out over the gardens from this 30sq m room. The most spacious in the hotel, the room has a super king-size four-poster bed decked out with goose down and crisp cotton, as well as an ensuite bathroom with a roll-top bath tub, a walk-in shower and double sinks. Up to two extra beds can be added on request. There’s also a smart TV with a library of free films, a digital radio, tea- and coffee-making facilities and free WiFi.

The Cottage

The cosy Cottage sleeps six people and has a private garden, a snug sitting room (with a wood-burning stove, TV and DVD player) and a kitchen with a hob, sink and kettle. There’s a master bedroom upstairs with a super-king-size bed, plus a second bedroom with a zip-lined bed that can be used as a king-size bed or two singles; the third bedroom is on the ground floor, with a king-size bed. Each bedroom has goose-down bedding, crisp cotton sheets, tea and coffee facilities and a Roberts Radio. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a free-standing bath tub; there’s also a family bathroom with a shower attachment over the bath. The Cottage comes with WiFi and a stash of natural Bramley bath products.
