Sporting a stone exterior and steep gabled roofs, this cosy bolthole has a quintessentially British air, and sits within a lawned garden with a patio for alfresco dining. The heart of the house is the open-plan living and dining area, which has soft sofas and a wood-burning stove at one end, and a sleek Scandi-style kitchen at the other. When it comes to meals, you can cook up a storm yourself, book a private chef or stroll over to the main hotel, home to the acclaimed Restaurant Hywel Jones. Other diversions include Lucknam’s award-winning spa, tennis courts and acre upon acre of unspoiled parkland.

Four Bedroom Grand Cottage

On Lucknam Park's 500-acre estate, this four-bedroom cottage offers a best-of-both-worlds situation. Set in a private garden, it feels peaceful and secluded, but all of the hotel’s facilities are a stone’s throw away, including an award-winning spa and acclaimed restaurant. On the ground floor, there’s a living room with a log-burning fireplace, a dining table with seating for eight, and a fully-equipped kitchen. There are three double bedrooms, two have an ensuite bathroom with a bath tub and walk-in rain shower and the other has an ensuite bathroom with a shower only. The fourth bedroom has twin beds and an ensuite bathroom with a bath tub and shower. There’s free WiFi throughout, and every bedroom has a TV and Bluetooth speaker. Throughout your stay treatments at the spa can be arranged for an extra charge. Linen and towels are changed daily, but a full housekeeping service is available for an additional £100. Advanced bookings are essential.
