Double Room at the Country House

These 32sq m rooms have heated floors, a king-size bed, flatscreen TV and an iPod dock. Decor features designer furniture (Philippe Starck lamps, coat racks and side tables) and country-cottage fittings. Hints of baby blue and fresh-cut flowers add soft colour; rooms are scented with incense or ‘Jasmim Branco’ (white jasmine) by the Northern Portugese fragrance company, Castelbel. Rather than having a number, each room is named after a drawing by the owners’ children: Grape, Flower, or Bee, for example.

Junior Suite at the Country House

This 50sq m suite is a great option for families: there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, with a shared bathroom. The suite has heated floors, a flatscreen TV and an iPod dock. Rooms are decorated with designer furniture (Philippe Starck lamps, coat racks and side tables) and country-cottage fittings. Hints of baby blue and fresh-cut flowers add soft colour, and there’s a stash of Bulgari products (including a scented candle).

Suite at the Country House

These 90sq m suites have heated floors, a king-size Dux bed, flatscreen TV and an iPod dock. The living area has a fireplace that also warms the bedroom. The shower and selection of Bulgari products are the highlights of the bathroom, and there’s a Philippe Starck bath tub in the bedroom. Free-standing stairs lead up to the second bed, tucked away in the loft area. The suites are decorated with designer furniture and country-cottage fittings. Hints of baby blue and fresh-cut flowers add soft colour; rooms are scented with incense or ‘Jasmim Branco’ (white jasmine) by the Northern Portugese fragrance company, Castelbel. Wine and fruits are left in the suite for guests.

Suite at Casa das Pedras

There are four luxurious suites in this elegant modernist casa, which is surrounded by the Peceguina vineyards and the Terges Stream. Hay-hued concrete nods to the rustic surroundings, otherwise decor celebrates mid-century styling. Each 100sq m suite has a private, temperature-controlled plunge pool and a terrace with sunloungers. Within, there’s a king-size bed, TV, iPad, Bose sound-system, minibar, air-conditioning, Bulgari bath products and free WiFi. Suite at Casa do Ancoradouro

Each of the seven suites in this casa show a modern take on trad Alentejo style, with white walls and linens, and terracotta floors. All around are the Alicante Bouschet and Touriga Franca vineyards and the Terges Stream babbles peacefully past. Each 100sq m suite has a private terrace with garden and vineyard views. Indoors, there’s a king-size bed, TV, iPad, Bose sound-system, minibar, air-conditioning, Bulgari bath products and free WiFi; and the bathroom has a bath tub and walk-in shower. Two suites have fireplaces, too, and all guests have access to a communal pool. Plus, these are a good option for families, with room for two adults and up to four kids.

Casa da Ribeira

This three-bedroom hideaway must be booked exclusively, making it ideal for families or groups of friends (sleeping up to nine adults or six adults and six kids). It’s set by the Terges Stream, with a manicured garden out front. Guests have a private pool and each suite has a terrace with views of the Alentejo plains, a king-size bed, TV, iPad, Bose sound-system, air-conditioning, Bulgari bath products and free WiFi (one suite has a fireplace, too), plus a bathroom with a bath tub and walk-in shower. Communal areas include an open-plan living and dining room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen.

Casa das Artes & Ofícios

Families of four will have plenty of space to enjoy their Portuguese break in this sage-hued, two-bedroom, 180sq m casa with a charmingly rustic exterior and a private pool. Its decor is inspired by traditional Alentejo arts and crafts; in fact, most artworks and furnishings have been made by local artisans and are available to buy. Each 25sq m bedroom has a furnished porch overlooking the Alentejo plains. Both are kitted out with a king-size bed, TV, iPad, Bose sound-system, air-conditioning, Bulgari bath products and free WiFi, and there’s a communal fireplace-warmed living and dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.
