With its sleek minimalist design, the Continentale hotel is the very antithesis of the classic Florentine Room with a View-style pensiones, and it's a huge hit with those searching for a contemporary vibe. It almost sits right on the famous Ponte Vecchio, and is within a few minutes' walk from, well, everywhere. The sleek receptionists are clad in black suits; black and white fashion photographs line the walls; classic European films run on a loop on a giant plasma screen in the foyer.

Panoramic Consorti Suite

Crowning the top of Continentale’s 13th-century Consorti tower, this 46sq m split-level suite has panoramic views of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno, the city and Tuscan countryside beyond; swoon over them from the private terrace or the canopied bed on the lower floor. You can spy the cathedral and Duomo from the giant rectangular tub in the bathroom on the upper level too. There’s also a small seating area, the suite is dressed in fine linens and carefully selected artwork, and there are wooden floors throughout.
