Chiltern Firehouse

The UK's first outpost by hippest of hoteliers André Balazs, luxurious-but-louche city stay Chiltern Firehouse is a siren call to cocktail-drinkers, dandy diners and lovers of London. The ravishingly revived red-brick fire station houses a Deco-twisted take on Victoriana, with a decadent bar, iconic dishes in the restaurant and staff so glamorous they could be mistaken for celebrity guests.

These two west-facing rooms numbers 27 and 37, are on the second and third floors and look out over the mews. Both 32sq m rooms have a working fireplace, a lounge area with velvet armchairs, a king-size bed and plentiful hanging space for designer togs. In the marble bathroom, there’s a large walk-in shower. Rooms have free WiFi, a personal bar and mini-fridge, Apple TV, a DVD player, an iPod dock and Bang & Olufsen speakers.

Each of these 25sq m rooms (numbers 25 and 35) is decorated in dark-wood accents, velvets and the odd tassel, and overlooks the red-brick buildings along Chiltern Street; both have a working fireplace, king-size bed (with 400-thread sheets) and a fully stocked drinks bar and fridge. Mews Classics are west facing overlooking the Mews. Each has a working fireplace and king size bed dressed with custom linens and framed mahogany panelled back rests. These two light-filled rooms (numbers 16 and 17) overlook Chiltern Street’s Victorian refinement. Firehouse Suite

The Firehouse Suite’s living room benefits from the beautiful bay window overlooking the Courtyard and which provides a comfortable seat from which to observe Marylebone’s Chiltern Street. The room has a treble casement window and the room arrangement includes an open fireplace, living room and working area with relaxing chairs and sofa. The entrance lobby provides guests with a double wardrobe and dressing table. The spacious bathroom includes full-height windows, a freestanding pewter bathtub, shower and double marble console. The bedroom has a second fireplace, king bed with 400 thread count sheets, mirrored wardrobes and comfortable seating area. There is also a separate WC in the entrance hallway.

Bright and south-facing, these 37sq m rooms (numbers 23 and 33) have views of the hotel’s private courtyard through the original Victorian windows.
