Castello di Casole

At Castello di Casole, a Belmond Hotel in Tuscany, guests can romp around the green and gold Tuscan countryside, dabble in dough-making at the sweet little pizzeria, dine in elegance at Ristorante Tosca or unwind in the former wine cellar, now a dramatic spa: all barrel-vaulted ceilings, restored stone walls and verdant-valley views. The hotel is set on a rolling 4,200-acre estate in the hilltop town of Casole d’Elsa in scenic Siena – the heart of Tuscany. You can reach Florence and San Gimignano in about an hour by car.

Deluxe Double Room

These rustic 37-44sq m rooms in the castle are awash in local charm, with wood-beamed ceilings, exposed stonework and local antiques. Decorated in rich colours inspired by classic Tuscan hues, Deluxe Double rooms have a king-size bed (twin beds are available on request) and views of the hotel’s peaceful courtyard or the countryside. The ensuite bathroom has a bath tub with an overhead shower. Each has free WiFi, a TV, a desk, air-conditioning, free bottled water and black-out curtains. These rooms can be connected to Grandiosa Suites to form a two-bedroom suite.

Deluxe Junior Suite

The 45–50sqm Deluxe Junior Suites have rough stone feature walls and exposed ceiling beams for an elegant rustic feel. Decorated in vibrant Tuscany hues of terracotta, blue and green, the suites are furnished with local antiques. Bathrooms are bright and spacious with heated carrara marble or mosaic-tiled bathroom flooring, a custom-made freestanding bath tub and double shower heads in the separate shower. All suites have panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside or the hotel’s peaceful courtyard. Each suite also has an HDTV with free movie channels, an iPod dock, free minibar and WiFi.

Premium Junior Suite

Decorated in Tuscan-inspired reds, blues and greens, these 50–65sq m suites have original features like wood-beamed ceilings, terracotta-tiled floors and antique furnishings. Each has a king-size bed (or twins on request), sofas upholstered in fine Italian linens and cabinets and decorations made by local craftsmen. Executive Junior Suites also have free WiFi, a flatscreen TV, iPod dock and minibar with free bottled water.

Limonaia Suite

There are five Limonaia Suites, which average 75sq m each and have furnished private terraces. Suites open on to the living area, where two-storey-high floor-to-ceiling windows provide plenty of natural light. The master bedroom is on the lower level with direct access to the terrace. The loft area is decorated in a Tuscan palette of light blue, yellow and taupe, and is furnished with local antiques. There are custom-made beds and vivid artworks on the walls. Each suite has a modern bathroom with Italian travertine and mosaic-tiled floors, a freestanding bath tub and a walk-in shower with double shower heads, under-floor heating and large painted shutters. An HDTV, with free movie channels, an iPod dock, a free minibar and WiFi are included.

Grandiosa Suite

This 70–90sq m suites have views of the courtyard or verdant countryside. Decorated in rustic Tuscan style, they have terracotta-tiled floors, wooden ceiling beams and rough stone walls. Each has a king-size bed, a living room with lounge furniture upholstered in fine Italian linens, statement pieces sourced from local markets and original artworks. Oliveto Suite

These 90sq m suites (with 40sq m of outdoor space) are designed to ensure guests have the best views of the surrounding olive groves and countryside. Set aside from the main villa, each suite combines rustic Tuscan charm with contemporary Italian design, and has the feel of a private apartment, with views from the living room, bedroom and large private terraces. Each has travertine floors, custom furnishings by renowned Italian designers and original artwork on the walls. They're decorated in a neutral palette of grey, taupe and truffle brown with terracotta and blue accents. Decked in Carrara marble, the bathroom has a custom-made freestanding bath tub and a walk-in shower with two heads. Suites also have free WiFi, an HDTV with free movie channels and a minibar.
