These 30sq m beachfront suites are decorated in a muted palette, with hand-woven Chiapas textiles and locally-made mid-century modern furniture. Each has a king-size canopy bed, wraparound windows with tropical views (front row suites have uninterrupted access to the sea), and a kitchenette with a fridge, hob and handmade clay-and-ceramic crockery from Oaxaca; a selection of spices, coffee and a large drinking-water dispenser are refilled daily. The open-plan ensuite shower rooms are newly renovated with stone tiles, polished concrete and jungle hardwoods. Each suite also has a Bose iPod dock, minibar and a dining area.

Oceanfront Junior Suite

These cosy (19sq m) suites each have a queen-size Balinese canopy bed and a loveseat carved from reclaimed wood. Draped, wraparound windows look out over the Caribbean Sea, and suites have direct access to a shared garden. The ensuite shower room is lined with original Mexican tiles from the 1970s and is completely open-plan. Rooms also have a Bose iPod dock, beach bag and towels, and large drinking-water station, refilled each day.

Oceanfront Master Suite

This spacious (110q m) suite is large and luxurious with uninterrupted views of the Caribbean from inside the suite and from the large hammock-bedecked terrace. There’s space for entertaining in the glossy, mid-century modern sunken living area, which has a dining table that seats six and a separate full-size kitchen with an oven, sink, kettle, coffee machine and grill, and spices for cooking. The suite has two king-size canopy beds, which can be separated by drapes, and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in rainfall shower and a double vanity. There’s also a large drinking-water station (refilled daily), beach towels and an iPod dock.

In this 800sq ft beachfront suite, you'll find a king-size bed (or twins, on request), floor-to-ceiling windows with jungle and sea views, and plenty of Scandi-style (but locally made) furniture; there's a walk-in dressing room and private balcony, too. The handy kitchenette – stocked with purified drinking water, free organic coffee and spices for cooking – has granite counters, a full-size fridge, a gas stove and handmade Oaxacan clay and ceramic dishware.
