Why we love it Design your trip Highlights Notes

Why we love it

“It doesn’t get more iconic than Tanzania’s Northern safari circuit, the dramatic open plains and the sheer volume of migrating herds are an unrivalled highlight of the trip. But, we know that North Tanzania has much more to offer and have included some lesser-explored regions to ensure you see it all. From Arusha, you'll head to Tarangire National Park to marvel at the epic landscapes and great elephant herds before heading to Serengeti to track the thundering Great Wildebeest Migration and search for an up-close big game experience. Get ready for the safari adventure of a lifetime!”

Tarangire National Park

Big trees, big game and big landscapes - this is a really special safari destination and works perfectly as your first taste of the Tanzanian Northern Circuit. It can be done in two nights and is worth noting that the game viewing can be hard from November-April due to rains, it is, however, much quieter which is a real perk.

Seychelles

The jewel of the Indian Ocean and one of the world's most sought after beach destinations. There is a real variety in hotels but most are very high-end and this is reflected in the price. April, May, October and November are considered the best times to visit and the international airport is well-connected.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Named after the immense crater, this is one of Africa's most popular wildlife viewing destinations. Lodging varies from 5* properties on the crater rim to converted farms in the town of Karatu, a wonderfully tranquil place. Access is either by road from Arusha or light aircraft.

Nairobi

Much more than just a stopover, Nairobi is emerging as a destination in it's own right and has a lot to offer. From day trips to the giraffe sanctuary to some of Africa's top restaurants, we recommend a night here if possible to break up the safari. The international airport is the hub of East Africa.

Selous Game Reserve

Africa's largest game reserve has a wide variety of safari activities available and is a real hidden gem. From boat safaris to walking and game drives, you will not be left wanting. The reserve connects very well to Zanzibar and Ruaha National Park with light aircraft flights.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Gorilla trekking is the big drawer to the region, and for good reason. This is the best value place to see mountain gorillas on the planet and there really is no experience like it. The lodges are all eco-friendly and boast stunning views over the Virunga range. Domestic flights are the best way to get here and road is also an option for the more adventurous.

Zanzibar

White sandy beaches, energetic Stone Town and a rich history - this island has it all. The ideal stay would be around 5 nights and take in a bit of everything from rooftop lunches in the old town to private dhow cruises at sunset. The airport connect well with Tanzania's safari circuit and Nairobi, as well as the Middle East.
