Tucked into the leafy suburb of Langata, on the edge of the Giraffe Sanctuary Forest, Hemingways Eden Residence feels more like a private home than a hotel. Built in 1992 by artist Tonio Trzebinski and designer Anna Trzebinski, it’s now an intimate nine-room retreat within the Hemingways Collection. Rooms are spread across the Main House, Studio Lofts and a secluded cottage, each individually styled. At its heart, the Artisanal Gallery showcases contemporary African art and design, with workshops for guests who want to create, not just observe. Expect forest walks, slow mornings, candlelit dinners and the soundtrack of birdsong and bush babies. Just 40 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and 30 from Wilson Airport, Eden is a calm, characterful base for exploring Nairobi’s wild and creative side.
